July 28, 1909 Clarence married Mabel Isabelle Bedunah in Allegan Michigan. In 1910 they were living in Trowbridge, Allegan County where daughter, Vera Ethel, was born. By 1912 they were in Pickford MI where Roy was born. Also born in Pickford were Iva Louisa, Merl Jr., and Lee Charles. Then the family moved to Rudyard where Elsie Ida was born in 1921. In 1926 they were back in Picford where Lloyd Harold was born. Donald Lester was born in Pickford in 1923, and their last child Clarissa May was born in 1936 in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
Life was different back in those days. Vera tells of using flat irons that they would put in the fire to get hot. Then she and her mother would iron clothes until the irons cooled, then back in the fire they would go. She also said they raised turkeys and chickens. One old tom was quite mean and they were glad when mother cooked him one year for Thanksgiving.
Clarence's registration for the draft in 1917 indicates that he was a farmer, had blue eyes and brown hair, and was stout.
He moved yet again as he passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
