Donald V. Shawhan, 92, of Ankeny passed away December 1, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.). Burial will follow, at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
He was married to Bernice Lind June 14, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa, and he then served our country with the United States Navy during World War II.
Donald is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernice, four daughters; Donna Anglin, of Des Moines, Cinda Browne, of West Des Moines, Linda (Anthony) Sferrazzo, of Clive, and Cherrie Shawhan, of Florida, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Stephen.
