Dale Van Eck age 83, went to be with his Lord and heavenly rest early in the morning on December 2nd, 2012 at Hospice House of Holland.

Born on August 8, 1929 to Edward and Kate Van Eck, Dale graduated in 1947 from Holland High School and attended Hope College. He graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and went on to serve two years in the US Army. There, he served in an engineering division of the US Air Force known as SCARWAF personnel. Upon discharge Dale went into the field of commercial art with various firms including Steketee-VanHuis of Holland, Michigan. In 1964 Dale purchased and co-owned Merchant's Publishing Company where they specialized in horticultural printing.

He retired in 1994 and returned to Holland where he was involved as a SCORE counselor, helping new businesses. As a member of Christ Memorial Church, Dale loved serving the Lord as a Sunday School teacher. One of Dale's great talents besides being a helping hand to all, was his artistic abilities in oil painting. Dale's appreciation for life is evident in his landscapes, seascapes and portraits.

Dale was a person of great integrity in both his professional and personal life. His gentle nature and humor endeared him to all he met.

He was God's gift to his wife, Doris (Wieskamp) of 55 years. Dale is also survived by his children; Tom and Jeri Van Eck of Riverview, MI, and Bob and Sally Van Eck of Grandville, MI; grandchildren, Emily (Colston) Copeland and Kelli Van Eck of Anaheim, CA; Meghan (Peter) Cappon of Seattle, WA; Calvin Van Eck of Grand Rapids, MI; Madelyn (Micheal) Cox of Grand Rapids, MI, and Anderson Van Eck of Grandville, MI. Dale is also survived by his brother, Paul (Sharon) Van Eck of Zeeland, MI and sister-in-law of Christine Van Eck of Grand Haven. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. Edward Van Eck and Marvin Van Eck, and sister, June Westveer.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road, with the Rev. Bill Boersma officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
