1843 July 4 - Sidney was born in Miller County, Missouri and was the daughter of Levi Millholland (1819-1872) and Sarah Jane 'Sary' Lindley (1823-1859).

1850 - US Census; Sidney age 6, living in Hopkins County, Texas, with parents Levi and Sarah (Lindley) Millholland, and siblings, Jasper, 10; Newton, 9; Bartholomew, 4; and Ellen, 1.

In 1855, Sidney went with her parents and siblings on a Wagon Train from Missouri to California. Her father Levi Millhollon was the Captain of train of 175 wagons.
On the trip, Sidney fell from a wagon and was run over by a wagon. She made the journey in a hammock-like arrangement in the back of their wagon. She was unable to sit up for six weeks. It was a very adventurous trip and they encountered Indians along the way. (There is an article in the 3 Oct. 1927, "Progressive Farmer", titled "Attention All Old Timers", which tells stories of Sidney Millholland and her parents. The story can also be found in "Frontier Times" Jan 1828).

1856 Sept 29 - After the wagon train trip to California, the Millholland family made their trip back to Texas via Panama to New York, 29 Sept. 1856, on the ship, Illinois. From New York, they made their way back to Texas. (Why did they go to New York, was it possibly for medical help for Sidney because she had been run over a wagon)?

1857 - Her uncle, Dr. Samuel Pittman, a frontier doctor gave her a horse for her 14th birthday.

1858 July 13 - Sidney married 1st) Fleming Van Buren Derrick (1839-1891) , in Hopkins County, Texas.

1860 July 4 - US Census; Sidney, age 17, and living on farm near current community of Drop, in Denton County, Texas with husband Fleming 22, and daughter, Sarah, 1.

1861 - At age 18 and three years after their marriage, the Civil War began and Fleming joined the Confederacy. Sydney was left with two little girls and a farm to run for the years while he served.

1870 - US Census; Sidney, age 28, and living in Wilson County, Texas with Fleming, 32; and children; Sallie, 11; James, 3; and Judith, 1. (Two of their daughters, Margaret Jane & Eldretty "Lizzy" have died).

1880 - US Census; Sidney is 36, and residence is Floresville, Wilson County, Texas, with husband Fleming, 41, and children; James 13, Jasper 11, Van Newton 8, and Myrtis 4.

1891 Apr 8 - Husband Fleming Van Buren Derrick (1839-1891) died. He was a stonecutter and a steeplejack. Story is that he fell from a building at a construction site.

1892 Oct 3 - Sidney married her second husband, Benjamin Franklin Kilgore (1836-1916) in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas.

1900 - US Census; Sidney 58, living in Brown County, Texas with second husband, Benjamin Kilgore, 68.

1910 - US Census: Sidney, 66, living with husband, Benjamin Kilgore, 79; and her son, Jay, 27; Jay's wife, Gussie, 22; and their children (Sidney's grandchildren), Lena Derrick, 2; Bertram Derrick, 1.

1915 Aug 26 - Death of husband, Benjamin Franklin Kilgore (1836-1916).

1916 - Sidney is 72 and was living in the Confederate Women's Home in Austin, Travis Co., Texas.

1917 Aug 21 - At age 73, Sidney died of stomach cancer.

Alcey Ruth Gibson (1785-1855) She was born in NC and as husband, Jacob, was raised in the Quaker Faith, but became members of the Christian Church while living in KY.

SIDNEY'S MATERNAL GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER: (Jacob's father) Thomas Lindley (1706-1781) was a Quaker an it was his land the 'Battle of Lindley's Mill' was fought on during the American Revolution.
