The funeral service for retired carburetor plant employee Mavis Louise Sanders of Paris was at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Church of God of Prophecy, where she was a member.

Roger Smith officiated. Burial followed in Poplar Grove Cemetery at Springville.

Named as pallbearers were Jarred Presson, Dylan Sanders, Jason and Kalab Holcomb, Steve Taylor and James Williams.

Visitation was Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home and Sunday at the church.

Sanders, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Henry County Medical Center.

Born Jan. 31, 1924, in Fort Cobb, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Lytle and Zada Era Gilbreath Stone.

She retired after 33-1/2 years at Holley carburetor plant. A family member said she enjoyed water aerobics at the Paris Civic Center, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family.

She leaves one daughter: Linda (James "Buddy") Holcomb of Daleville, Miss.; seven grandchildren: Laura (Danny) Presson, Mavis (Vincent) Bolden and Cheryl Sanders, all of Paris, Mary (Danny) Marshall of Michigan, Dana (Clint) McElroy and Steve (Susan) Taylor, both of Meridian, Miss., and Jason Holcomb of Daleville; and

Eleven great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Parker Marshall, Jarred and Lauren Presson, Dylan Sanders, Kristian, Landon and John Clinton McElroy, Jacob Taylor and Tyson and Kalab Holcomb.

She also was preceded in death by a son: Daryl Wilson Sanders; and two brothers: Loyd and Earl Stone.
