"John R. Parker Dies Suddenly"
Attorney Succumbs Unexpectedly at home to heart disease
Found lying on floor
Seattle Bar Association will pay tribute at funeral services this afternoon
John R. Parker , well known Seattle attorney with offices in the Lyon building and a recognized authority on constitutional law, died at his home, at 530 Thirty-second avenue, Thursday night. Mr. Parker had been ill for several months, but his death was unexpected. He was stricken with heart disease, with which he had been afflicted to a certain extent for several years, while he was arising from his bed and he was dead when Mrs. Parker found him lying on the floor.
Funeral this afternoon
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Johnson & Hamilton undertaking establishment. Members of the Seattle Bar Association, of which Mr. Parker was a member, will attend.
Practiced in Chicago
Born in Indiana, Mr. Parker was educated at the Jillside (sic) collecge of Michigan, from where he was graduated in 1871. Shortly after receiving his diploma he went to Chicago to start practice. He was an attorney for nearly thirty years. He was a Republican and took an active part in Chicago politics, but since coming to Seattle he had not been identified with any political organizations.
Mr. Parker is survived by a widow and two sons Robert (sic) and Roscoe."

---

Sons are Roscoe b 1891, Russell b 1883 and Irving b 1880.

---

Disappeared for 7 years abt 1900. Family tale is that he fled his wife and children. After 7 years he wrote to Josie and said he would return if she would promise not to ask why he left. When she met him at the station the first thing she said was, "John, why did you do it?" No answer recorded.

That story has been debunked to some degree, he was reported missing in California, but turned up a week later. It is also not he who came to Josie, but rather the other way around.
