Services for widow of portrait painter to be at niece's home

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet May Pierce, widow of Thomas Mitchell Pierce, portrait painter, who died Friday night at the home of Mrs. Grant Green, 215 Highland Avenue, will be conducted at the home of a niece, Mrs. Neal Brewster of 111 Highland Street, Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late William H. H. and Harriet Baum Neal. Her father was one of the founders of Neal & Hyde Inc., wholesale dry goods company.
She married Mr. Pierce at the home of her parents and went to New York City, where she remained until her husband's death. Mrs. Pierce returned to Syracuse nine years ago.
She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Social Art Club, Harmony Circle of Syracuse Memorial Hospital, Syracuse Day Nursery and the Women's Employment Society.
Surviving are a brother, J. Ward Neal of Syracuse; and four nieces, Mrs. Neal Brewster of Syracuse, Mrs. A. L. Murdoch of Cleveland, O., Mrs. Robert Wilson of Schenectady, and Mrs. William C. Haight of Albany.
