Pvt. Kermit C. Fisher, Co. C, 338th Infantry, 85th Infantry Division (Custer Division) was killed in action on Mt. Altuzzo, Italy on 17 Sept. 1944. He was initially buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Castelfiorentino, Firenze, Toscana, Italy.
More than four years later his mother, Janet (Westfall) Fisher, succeeded in having Kermit relocated to the Stalnaker Cemetery where he was laid to rest on 11 March 1949.
Pvt. Fisher was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
