He was the son of Milton and Sarah Nice (Heck).
Born in Port Clinton, PA, Franklin studied and work-ed in the area until joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. After his honorable discharge, Franklin, as a Sergeant, worked as a laborer at American Chain and Cable before joining Metropolitan Edison in 1964.
After retiring, Franklin enjoyed spending time with his family both at home and at their campground, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Franklin is survived by his wife, of 67 years a daughter, son, grandson, and a great-grandson.
Franklin was a member of Olivet Reformed United Church of Christ.
Burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 West Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.
