Kim was born on October 24, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Merrill Charles and Kathryn Elizabeth Kirchner Acton, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his residence with his wife by his side. Kim moved to Ponca City with his parents when he was 3 years old. He was raised and educated in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School with the class of 1965. Kim served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from 1967-1970. Kim graduated from Northern Oklahoma College with a Degree in Nursing. He worked several facilities as a Registered Nurse. At the time of his passing, Kim was weekend supervisor for Ponca City Nursing and Rehab. He married Martha Vinyard in Tulsa on November 26, 1984. The lived in Tulsa, Blackwell and Lincoln, Nebraska, always returning to Ponca City. Kim was a member of the National Rifle Association as well as the Ponca City Rifle and Pistol Club. Survivors include Kim's wife, Martha of the residence; son, Terry and wife Jeannie Acton of Charlotte, Tennessee; daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Acton of Minneapolis, Minnesota; numerous grandchildren; sister, Debby Acton and husband Jim Renner of Texas. Kim was preceded in passing by his parents. The family has selected Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, Ponca City Humane Society, or All About Animals Rescue, as appropriate for memorial donations with the Stittsworth Family serving as custodian of the fund.
