Walter B. Brown, 86
East Falmouth - Walter B. "Ben" Brown, 86, formerly of Whitinsville, died Thursday, December 6, 2012, in the Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge. His wife, Joyce (Young) Brown, died in 1972.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Brown, of Grafton, and Debra E. Brown, and Scott Shafer, of St. Johnsbury, VT; three grandchildren, Shannon Taylor, and her husband, Garrett, Colton LeBoeuf, and his wife, Rachael, and Wayne LeBoeuf, and his wife, Sherrie; a sister, D. Thelma Brown, of Upton, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Irwin, Carlton, and Robert Brown, and a sister, Eleanor Brown.
Mr. Brown was born in Whitinsville, October 3, 1926, a son of Samuel and Eunice (Dixon) Brown, and lived there until moving to Cape Cod in 1982, after retiring from the Northbridge Police Department, where he served as a police officer for 32 years. He attended Northbridge schools and the Massachusetts State Police Academy.
He was a member of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church in Whitinsville, The Massachusetts Police Association, and the Southern Massachusetts Police Association.
Mr. Brown's Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 11, in the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 6-8 PM, Monday, December 10, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
