Born May 4, 1913 in Shenandoah, Va., she was the daughter of the late Will and Lizzie Meadows Burkett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Pitsnogle, in 2005.
She retired from the Washington County Board of Education, where she had worked as a cafeteria worker at North Hagerstown High School. She cooked at the neighborhood deli and several other restaurants. She was known for her pan-fried chicken.
She was a life member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Henry (Chic) Burkett Sr., of Inwood, W.Va., and Emit Burkett of Hagerstown; six grandchildren, two of whom provided her with support and care for many years, Kathy Flood and Karen Doub, both of Hagerstown; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
