Died in helicopter crash which was struck by ground fire. Served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Recipient of the Combant Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star with "V" Device, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Son of Virginia L Henderson Standefer Strain and Morris G Standefer. Graduate of Colorado City, Texas, High School (1966). Survived by a son.
