Emma Leona Aubushon
Emma Leona Aubushon was the daughter of Fredrick Milton and Georgia May Shippen Hastings, was born December 5, 1910 at Jewell County Kan. She departed this life on Wednesday March 18, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Neb. at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 13day.
Leona grew up in Jewell county Kan. where she recieved her formal education attending rural school. She was unnited in marriage with Lester Carold Aubushon on December 24, 1927 at Hastings, Neb. This union was blessed with a daughter, Daisie Mae and two sons, Carold Lee and Milton Louis. They made their home on the farm south of Red Cloud. In 1955, they moved to Phillipsburg, Kan, to make their home. Leona was employed for ten years with the Phillips county Nursing Home as a cook, retiring from this position in 1972. In 1973, Lester and Leona moved to Red Cloud to live. Hr husband preceded her in death on January 28, 1984. In 1987 Leona moved to the Good Samaritain Center in Superior.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Carold Aubushon in November of 1984; sisters: Veda Mae hastings and Pearl B. Eckard; and three brothers: Maurice, Fredrick and Harold Hastings.
Left to treasure her memory are her daughter Daisie Hartman and husband Keith of Guide Rock, Neb; son Milton Aubushon and wife June of Phillipsburg, Kan; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchilden; a great great grandson; other reaitves and a host of friends. Leona will be deeply missed and fondly rememberd by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Funeral servies were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1998 from the Simonson - Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with the Rev. Tom Hinshaw officiating. Vicki Lehr sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and " Safe In the Arms of Jesus" with Wanda Langer, organist. The casketbearers were Dale Hartman, Phil Hartman, Phil Troudt , Terry Wiley, Chuck Aubushon and Keith Hastings. Interment was in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
