Mason City Globe Gazette 12/10/1996 Doris G. Davis FORT SCOTT, Kansas Doris G. Davis, 76, of 102 State Street, Fort Scott, died Friday (Dec. 6, 1996) at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, with the Rev. Herbert Shafer of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and will be held until time of services today at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Doris G. Davis was born Nov. 23, 1920, the daughter of Robert and Theda (Ross) Read in Mason City, Iowa. Doris attended Mason City Schools. She married Leslie R. Davis on Jan. 27, 1939, in Garner, Iowa. Doris was a homemaker and was married for 52 years. Doris moved to Fort Scott in September 1994 to be near her daughter and son-in-law. Survivors include one daughter, Gerry Rae Oliver and husband, Tom, of Fort Scott, Kan.; two grandsons, Leslie T. Oliver and wife, Suzanne, of Overland Park, Kan., and Robert S. Oliver and wife, Jill, of Kansas City, Mo.; two great-granddaughters, Lindsey Rae and Jessica Elise of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Roberta Swanson of Mason City, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Berniece Barron of Mason City, Iowa, and Ruth Conway of Mason City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and her husband, Leslie, in 1991.
