A. Clayton Proctor, 92, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Imboden Creek Living Center.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, November 12, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Clayton was born May 8, 1920, in Moweaqua, IL, the son of George W. and Effie (Scribner) Proctor. He married Leah L. Carrier on June 7, 1943, in Santa Barbara, CA. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2010.

Clayton owned and operated Proctor DX Service Station and later was co-owner of Stohl & Proctor Oil. He retired in 1986. Clayton enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid trap shooter. He loved all sports and was a lifelong Cardinal fan.

Clayton was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran and a former member of Champaign Illinois AMVETS. He was a member of Ionic Lodge 312 A.F. & A.M. and Warrensburg Sportsmans Club.

Surviving are his daughter Gayle (Kevin) Seger of Decatur, IL; son Roger Proctor of East Peoria, IL; grandchildren Kelly (Michael) Bantz of Decatur, IL, Andrew Proctor of Springfield, IL, and Adam (Nicole) Proctor of Zebulon, N.C.; great-grandchildren Kayden Bantz of Decatur, IL and Abigail Proctor of Zebulon, N.C.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, wife Leah, daughter-in-law Roberta Proctor, brother Herschel Proctor and sister Lucille Fathauer.

Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Moweaqua, IL.
