It is with sincere sorrow that the many friends in this town and in his native county will hear of the death of Thomas Butler Pretlow of Appomattox which occurred Monday night, May 15, in the 63rd year of his age after a short illness of heart failure, in a Lynchburg hospital.
Mr. Pretlow was the son of the late Joshua and Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Pretlow of Marle Hill; was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, and leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Annie Abbitt Pretlow; a son and daughter, Frances and Joshua; four sisters, Mrs. John D. Abbitt and Miss Mary Denson Pretlow of Norfolk, Mrs. William T. Woodley of New Bern, N.C., and Mrs. Colgate W. Darden of Marle Hill, this county, and an aunt, Mrs. John Murray, of Staunton, Va.
Funeral services were held in his late home in Appomattox on Wednesday afternoon.
