Daughter of Anton Schoenberger (German immigrant) and Carolina Louis Neilson(Swedish immigrant). Lillian was born in Lewistown on the same day her father "officially" became a naturalized citizen of the USA. I say "officially" because his naturalization papers were signed 12 years after he first enlisted in the US Army. The family moved to Knox Co, IL, where they remained.

My sisters and I loved to go spend time with Grandma Grabill and Uncle Cecil, her son who lived with her until she passed away.
Grandma was a kindergarten teacher. She cooked wonderful meals ~ I still remember the smells of her kitchen. Her noodles & pies were the best! Cecil loved to play board games with us and teach us funny little poems.
