Bernard "Sandy" M. Loos, 87, of Sterling, passed away Dec. 9, 2012, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Dale Wesley and Jeff Calvert officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Sandy was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Sterling to Edwin and Blanche (Royle) Loos. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1943.

He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from May 1945 until his honorable discharge in November 1946. He served in the infantry in Japan.

Sandy was a farmer and rancher through the years, and also worked several years for the Haxtun Soil Conservation District.

On Dec. 16, 1944, he married his wife in St. Francis, Kan.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, American Legion Post No. 20 and the Old Pickup Club. Farming was his hobby. He played piano and organ and loved music.

Sandy is survived by his wife; one son; a brother; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roy Loos.
