Word has been received at Waynesburg of the death Saturday, June 17, 1972, of Miss Mary Black, 60, of Brownwood, Texas, formerly of Greene County. Word of the death was received by Mr. and Mrs. Arlis Burns, of Waynesburg. Miss Black was born November 12, 1911 in Nineveh, Greene County, PA a daughter of the late Edward Richard Black and Mary McDonnell Black.

Miss Black had never married. She had spent her early life in Greene County. The family moved to Texas where her father, a well-known oil field worker, was employed.

Surviving are one sister, Kathryn Black Pester, of Brownwood, Texas; one brother, Jim Black, of San Antonio, Texas; and several cousins in Greene County. One sister and two brothers are deceased.

Services for Miss Mary Ellen Black, 60, will be at 2 pm Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery with Rev. James Aaron officiating.
Rosary for Miss Black will be said at 8 pm today at Wright-Morelock Funeral Home.

Miss Black died at 1:20 pm Saturday in the Brownwood Community Hospital following a long illness. Born Nov 11, 1911 in Pennsylvania, she had lived in Brownwood since 1940, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Katherine (Frank) Pester of Brownwood; a brother, James A. Black of San Antonio; two nephews, Dr. Jimmy Black of Wisconsin and Kenneth Pester of Norfolk, Va.--[Brownwood Bulletin, Brownwood, Texas; Sunday, 18 Jun 1972, p 2-A]
