Emile F. Simoneau, 88, of West St., Bristol, husband of Dorilla (Page) Simoneau, died Tuesday, (October 17, 2000) at Ingraham Manor. Mr. Simoneau was born in Lac Noir, Province of Quebec, Canada, on October 21, 1911 and was a son of the late Francois and Exilia (Gagne) Simoneau. He was baptized the day after on October 22nd in St-Désiré' church of Black Lake. The godfather was listed as Egésippe Croteau (worker) and godmother as Caroline Simoneau, godfather' spouse, both from Thetford Mines, Québec.
A Bristol resident since 1925, he was employed at Superior Electric Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1976. While at Superior Electric, he was awarded several patents with the late Lyle Ames. He was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, a social member of the Franco American War Veterans Post 22, and was a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol, where he was a member of the League of Sacred Heart Society. In addition to his wife, Dorilla, with whom he was about to celebrate his 63rd wedding anniversary on October 23, Mr. Simoneau is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Simoneau of Sandy Hook; two daughters, Lorraine Simoneau French of Bristol and Suzanne Simoneau and her husband, Stephen Eaton of Bristol; a brother, Adelard Simoneau of Palmdale, CA; three sisters, Alma Barber, Armande Mary LaForge and Antoinette Basarab, all of Bristol; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, at 10 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
