Ethel Virginia Deem Burkhalter, age 86, went to be with the Lord.

She was born to James Leslie and Zada Florence Williams of Emerson and Magnolia, Arkansas. She is survived by one brother, Marion Lee Williams of Kilgore; two sons, Paul Monroe Deem of Beaumont and William Leslie Deem and wife Kathleen of Custer, South Dakota and one daughter, Sandra Anne Pell and husband Mike of Palestine, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was cared for in her home by granddaughter Mandara Vance for the last four years of her life. She was very grateful to be able to stay home. She loved being with her family and pets.

Mrs. Burkhalter was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leonard Williams, her beloved husband Dallas Burkhalter and one precious son, Phillip Eugene Deem.

She retired from the Bell Telephone company after many years of service. She made the most beloved hand quilted quilts and throws that she shared with her family and friends. She leaves with us many treasured memories of a Godly woman. She was a member of Bassett Road Baptist Church in Palestine and many years as a founding member of Landmark Baptist Church in Athens, Texas.
