Services for Homer Horace Hughes, 80, of Roaring Springs, were at 2 p.m. January 12, 1993 in the Afton Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Williams, Lubbock and Rev. C.L. Atkinson, Afton, officiating.

Burial was in Afton Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home, Spur, in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hughes died January 11, 1993 about 12:40 a.m. in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Odem but had lived most of his life in Dickens County. He married Lois Eudelle Yeates in Afton on October 25, 1931. She preceded him in death on August 29, 1989.

Mr. Hughes was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

A son, Oscar, died in 1986 and a daughter, Regina Young, died in 1978. He is survived by four sons, David and Horace Hughes, both of Roaring Springs; Dick Hughes, Austin and Mickey Hughes, O´Donnell; three daughters, Carl Ann Goff and Cherry Bland, both of Lubbock and Deborah Pate, Odessa; two brothers, Sinclair Hughes, Afton and Pete Hughes, Lubbock; three sisters, Clarice Crabtree, Dickens; Hazel Cummings, Lubbock and Mamie Yeates, Afton; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Afton Cemetery Assn.. in care of Ruth Roberts, Afton, Texas 79220.
