Evelyn was a homemaker, but also worked at Plymouth Industries of Cheboygan and then as an assembler at Essex Wire in Atlanta. For many years she was a member of the Tower Baptist Church and later attended church at the Onaway Baptist Chapel. Evelyn's favorite pastime was gardening. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and flower gardening. She was an expert when it came to growing roses and always had the most beautiful rose bushes. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Evelyn's greatest love was for her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Surviving were Evelyn's husband of 65 years, Lawrence of Hillman; daughter, Bonnie (Greg) Wang of Onaway; son, Larry (Brenda) Bishop, also of Onaway; and four grandchildren, Harley Wang, Andy, Aaron, and Ashlee Bishop.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Kirt Wang; great grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Naleah, Emily, and Joseph Gregory; brothers, Frank L. Barnby and Menzo Barnby; sisters, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Elaine, and Eunice; and an infant brother, Arthur Barnby.
