Alta Pauline Maxfield, 79, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Russell
County Medical Center, Lebanon.

She was born in Cleveland, Va., daughter of the late Garland and Gracie Meade
Puckett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lee Maxfield.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hansen and husband Arthur of
Hendersonville, N.C., Mary Arlund and husband Jim of Stielwell, Kan., and Joy
Lyvonne Maxfield and husband Gather Cole of Bristol Virginia; four sons, Claude
Maxfield and wife Carolyn, Lewis Maxfield and wife Donna, Gary Maxfield and wife
Betty and Kenneth Maxfield and wife Peggy, all of Castlewood; three sisters,
Lillian Campbell of Bristol Virginia, Della Vogler of West Union, Ohio, and
Viola Kiser of Cleveland, Va.; two brothers, James Puckett of Lebanon and
Clayton Puckett of Bristol Tennessee; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Alta Pauline Maxfield will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May
18, 2004, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with Rev. Doyle Hobbs,
Rev. Darryl Baker and Rev. Roy Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in
Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be Stephen Caudill,
Jeramy Maxfield, Travis Maxfield, Gary Lee Maxfield, Lewis Maxfield Jr., Jim
Arlund and Jamie Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Baker and Kenneth
McIntruff. Special thanks to Deloris Burton and staff of Home Health Care. The
family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, in Castlewood
