Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer (Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois), Wednesday, March 20, 1963:
   Arnold Niehaus, 66, of Route 1, Troy, died Tuesday at 3:50 a.m. at his farm home.
   He was born Aug. 3, 1896 in Troy, the son of the late Henry and Barbara Schwartz Niehaus, and was married to Ella Noeltner on Sept. 8, 1920 at St. James church in St. Jacob.
   Besides his wife, he is survived by one son and five daughters, Melvin Niehaus, Mrs. Omar (Lorine) Bugger, Mrs. Edward (Bernadine) Poletti and Mrs. Vincent (Arline) Fohne, all of Troy, Mrs. Herbert (Marcella) Heim and Mrs. Melvin (Brenice) Friederich of Collinsville; and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
   Mr. Niehaus was a member of St. John's Catholic church, Black Jack, and had served as church trustee 11 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church, and the Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois.
   Funeral Mass will be read at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's church, Black Jack. The Rev. Joseph V. Dineen will officiate, with interment in the church cemetery.
   The body is in state at the Edwards funeral home, Troy, where the rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 8 o'clock.
