Shelton, NE – Raymond N. Watson, 81, of Shelton died Jan 24 at Wedgewood Manor in Grand Island where he had been a resident for three weeks.

Services will be at 10:30am Friday at the Shelton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne Alloway will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at the church. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Shelton Rescue Unit.

Mr. Watson was born Feb 19, 1913 at Campbell to Joseph and Minnie (Wessels) Watson. He was educated in rural schools and graduated from Campbell High School. He moved to Shelton area in 1934 and began farming.

He married Elma Stubblefield on Sept. 27, 1939 at the Zimmerman United Brethren Church near Shelton. Mrs. Watson died March 9, 1993.

He was a member of the Shelton United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and the Monday Morning Coffee Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Ethelene (Mrs. John) Russell of Fullerton and LaVonne Gearhart of Gibbon; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and four sisters.
