On March 20, 1955 she married Steele G. Vest Jr., and they shared more than 66 years of marriage together. In this union they raised three daughters, Vickie M. Jarrell of Elwood, Judith M. Cabe of Chesterton, and Betty M. Vest (and companion Terry Beeman) of Elwood. Betty was also blessed with two grandchildren, Christine L. (Jade) Crawford of Tipton, and Steele W. (Amy) Jarrell of Sharpsville; five great grandchildren, Kaelin M., Caden J., and Cameron A. Crawford of Tipton; and Waylon A. and Parker J. Jarrell of Sharpsville; two great-granddaughters, McKensie Cabe and Sidney Cabe of Valparaiso; and one great-great-granddaughter of Valparaiso; and one sister, Diana (Robert) Brayfield.
Those preceding Betty in death include her parents, Edward and Geneva Cornwell, Burgess and Cora May DeVaney; brother, James E. Cornwell; sister, Sharon Rushing; and grandsons, Jason Lee Cabe and Jay Lee Cabe; son in law, Chester (Chet) Jarrell; and her beloved pets Buster and Buddy.
Betty was very proud of her family and her home. She was always busy cleaning, cooking, or doing yard work. Betty will be missed by all who knew her.
Graveside services to honor Betty's life will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Elwood Cemetery Mausoleum. Private family viewing will be held at Dunnichay Funeral Home.
