Mr. Dodson was born on Friday, 2 January 1874, in Peaster, Parker County, Texas, to Charles Hallenquist Dodson, Jr. and Sarah Gemina Plumlee Dodson. He was the second of nine children born to this union.
He was united in marriage to Wilhelmina M. "Willie" Smith on Monday, 11 December 1899, in Parker County, Texas. Willie predeceased Charles on Monday, 09 March 1953. They were married 53 years. To their union were born eleven children: daughter Birdie Mae Dodson, son Charles Hester Dodson, daughter Myrtle Lee Dodson, son Robert Lester Dodson, son George William Dodson, daughter Pearly Bell Dodson, daughter Naomi Dodson, son Roy Woodrow Dodson, son Chancy Ray Dodson, daughter Ila Ruth Dodson, and son Jack D. "JD" Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was a resident of Dallas for several years up until his death. He was a native of Parker County and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister Mary Elizabeth Dodson Holloway, sister Julia Nora Dodson Watts, brother William Monroe Dodson, and brother James Martin Dodson.
He is survived by sister Lucy Jane Dodson Light, brother Milburn B Dodson, sister Chellie Ann Dodson Pugh, sister Pearl Gertie Dodson Braxton, daughter Birdie Mae Dodson, son Charles Hester Dodson, daughter Myrtle Lee Dodson, son Robert Lester Dodson, son George William Dodson, daughter Pearly Bell Dodson, daughter Naomi Dodson, son Roy Woodrow Dodson, son Chancy Ray Dodson, daughter Ila Ruth Dodson, and son Jack D. "JD" Dodson, 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of neices, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, 28 Monday 1961, at Shamrock Baptist Church of Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas.
Interment will follow services at Shamrock Cemetery of Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Clay Funeral Home of Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas.
