Thomas Houston Barnes, 87, of the Buck Creek Community died Saturday in a Franklin hospital after a long illness.
A native of Macon County, he was a son of the late Allen and Sarah Bryson Barnes. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae Alexander Barnes; four sons, Javis and Gordan Barnes of Franklin, Everett Barnes of Highlands, and Harley Barnes of Woodstock, GA; a daughter, Lottie Houston of Franklin; two brothers, Johnny Barnes of Franklin and Quincey Barnes of Seneca, SC; a sister, Stella Bryant of Westminster, SC; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Sunday in Buck Creek Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Revs Junior Jones, William Wooten and Ezekiel Barnes officiated and grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
