. Imogene (Jean) Battle Eason, age 76, of 1938 Concord Church Road, Ellaville, GA died Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA . Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Hopewell United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Peter Vermeulen will officiate.
Mrs. Eason was born January 2, 1933 in Marion County, GA, the daughter of John and Ruth Battle. She was very active in the community, serving as Scout leader, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Schley County Preservation Society, and the Ellaville-Schley County Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Eason was also a committed member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she had served in many positions throughout the years, including MYF leader, Church Historian, Sunday School teacher and an active member of the United Methodist Women. But what Mrs. Eason was most proud of was being a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph S. Eason, Sr.; two daughters, Cindy Gill and husband Dewey of Ellaville, Judy McClellan and husband Bill of Ellaville; two sons, Smitty Eason and wife Linda of Americus, GA, Al Eason and wife Marnie of Ellaville; two sisters, Joann Bass Jones of Talbotton, GA, Glynda B. Avery of Ellaville; and one brother, John Arthur Battle and wife Jelane of Guyton, GA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Mindy Morris and husband Stephen, Frankie Lamberth and wife Geneva, Eric McClellan, Ashley Bunch and husband Robert, Casey Keese and husband David, Jody Eason and wife Jen, Erica Bowen, Jessie Eason, and Jenna Eason. Ten great grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers will include Gary Parker, Tony Eason, Freddie Bass, Randy Avery, Bill Harrison, and Jimmy Harrison. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home.
