Vernie (Markle) Stonecipher passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 10th, 2012.

Vernie was born March 28, 1927 in Pyatt, Arkansas to G.W. (Wash) Markle and Ethel (Wagoner) Markle.

She was the 7th of 12 children and enjoyed the memories of growing up in the hills of Arkansas. Those memories lasted for a lifetime. She had a great love for her brothers and sisters throughout her life; time spent with them was always treasured.

Vernie married Lavone Stonecipher at Yellville, Arkansas on November 26, 1946. They made their way to Washington state where they began a life of working side by side in the orchards. Their early years were filled with hard work. But the hard work allowed them to purchase their own orchard that is still farmed by their son and grandson. They were married 62 years, before Von's passing in 2008.

Vernie was an unbelievable seamstress making everything from band and drill team uniforms for Highland High School to numerous wedding dresses for family and friends. Mom could make anything and the family was blessed to enjoy her wonderful talent. We will treasure her handiwork forever. Mom was a loving and tender soul that we will miss for the rest of our lives. Brent and Mandy were blessed with having a Granny to love them unconditionally.

Vernie is survived by her son Don Stonecipher, his wife Pam, who Mom loved as a daughter; her daughter Sharon and husband Bob Heer; a grandson Brent (Jessica), granddaughter Mandy, who loving cared for her Granny in her final months, great grandchildren, Bodie, Blade, Taya, Trae and Tiana; and her Miss Kitty.

She is survived by brothers EG (Camilla) Markle, Wayne Markle, John (Joyce) Markle, Jerry (Doris) Markle, sisters Ruby Hopper, Delphia Hensley, sister in law Ellen Markle, brother in law Virgil Stonecipher and sister in law Millie Parsley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Coyita Richardson, Hallie Markle, Bert Markle, L.D. Markle and Lessie Powell.

The family also would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Linda Angiano, who cared for Mom and also Dad during their final days. Also to Joy Burleson and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice for providing excellent care in her final month.

Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in charge of her final arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in her honor can be made to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospice.

At her request no visitation will be held. Graveside services will be held at West Hills Memorial cemetery on December 15th at 11 AM. There will be a gathering for friends and family following the service.
