Mary was the daughter of Frederick Bennett of Gilead, Oxford County, Maine and Mary Polly Scribner Bennett of Gilead, Oxford County, Maine. Mary and Frederick were married on 23 November 1826 in Gilead, Oxford County, Maine. Mary and Frederick had twelve children. They were: John P. Wilson was born on 15 April 1875 in Wilsons Mills, Oxford County, Maine; and Elnora B. Wilson was born on 19 September 1879 in Wentworth Location, Coos County, New Hampshire.
