Heinrich Erwin Donovan, 60, of Howard Lake passed away Dec. 11 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital of Minneapolis from the complications of leukemia.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, with visitation beginning at noon. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 10:15 a.m.

Heinrich Erwin Donovan, age 60, of Howard Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis from complications of leukemia.
He was born Dec. 6, 1952, in Minneapolis, to Maurice and Ada (Keenan) Donovan. Heinrich grew up in Minnetonka, and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1970.
He joined the Coast Guard and served from 1971-1974.
Heinrich married Cheryl Liestman May 7, 1977, in Excelsior. They made their home in Minnetonka first, and in 1985, moved to the Howard Lake and Winsted area.
Heinrich had worked first at landscaping, then in the construction industry, retiring in 2005.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, cutting wood, sports, and watching Howard Lake Orphans baseball.
Heinrich is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Howard Lake; children: Thomas (Jennifer) of Minnetrista, Jennifer Donovan, Matthew (Brittany White) Donovan, all of Howard Lake, Angela (Willis Skiles) Donovan of Montrose, and Amanda (Chad Anderson) Donovan of Howard Lake; and grandchildren Christian Donovan, Connor Donovan, Hailey Donovan, Mya Holmers, Macey Hess, and Taylor Skiles.
He is further survived by a brother, Jack (Sue) Donovan of Maple Grove; and sisters Janet Boswell of El Paso, TX, and Patricia Clark of Minneapolis.
Heinrich was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ada; and a brother, Gary Donovan.
Funeral services took place Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, with visitation beginning at noon.
