From obituary printed in the newspaper (clipping shown in one of the pictures):
"Funeral services were held last Saturday for Mrs. Sarah Eliot, 81, one of Norwalk's best loved pioneers. She had been a resident here for the past 77 years.
Mrs. Eliot died Thursday afternoon of last week at her home, 759 Leffingwell Rd. She apparently had been to her mail box and upon returning, collapsed on the front porch of her home where she was found by Frank and Nora Leeper, long-time friends of the Eliot family.
The final rites were conducted at the Norwalk Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Phillip Norvell, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church officiating. Pall bearers were her six grandsons. Interment was in the Artesia Cemetery with members of Norwalk Rebekah Lodge in charge of graveside services.
Mrs. Eliot was a native daughter, born in San Bernardino Oct. 1, 1865. She came to Norwalk with her family at the age of four years. She was a member of the Norwalk Rebekah Lodge where she held numerous offices and served two terms as district deputy president of Rebekahs. She was one of the guiding heads of the Old-timers Association, a group of Norwalk pioneers who meet semi-annually here to renew friendships. She had served as secretary for the Old-timers since its organization 18 years ago. Her efforts in the organization and friendly wit added much to the meetings when lifetime friends gathered for picnic dinners.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alma Russell of 767 Leffingwell Rd., and six grandsons.
(Died March 13, 1947. Buried March 15, 1947.)"

A correction from great-granddaughter, LIsa Russell Pflueger: Sarah had 4 grandsons (Donner Eliot, Forrest Russell, Martin Eliot, Harvey Eliot); and 6 granddaughters: Lucille Russell, Frances Eliot, Irene Eliot, Orral Virginia Eliot, Melba Eliot, and Dorothy Eliot.

Sarah was married to Stephen Mortimer (Mort) Eliot. She was the mother of Ward Stephenson Eliot, Alma Eliot Russell, and Ross Eldred Eliot. Both of her sons predeceased her. Sarah is buried across the cemetery from the Eliot plot where her husband Mort and many of the Eliots are buried. She is buried next to her youngest son, Ross. Alma (my grandmother) is buried in Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA and Ward is buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA. Sarah was the daughter of Samuel George Baker (b. 1830) and Elizabeth Ward Baker (b. 1826) who came to the United States from England in 1854.
