Harvey Bickel graduated from Pennsylvania College of Gettysburg in 1905 and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg in 1908. He began his pastorate in Adams County, NY where he served in the Upper Bermudian Lutheran Charge. He was pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Church, Northampton County, PA. He then became pastor of New Franklin Lutheran Parish in Franklin County, PA. He resigned 1 Nov 1948 due to ill health. Following the death of his first wife Ivah Rohrbach he married second Nellie V. Upperman, widow of George Coover.
