Kelcy Marie Almon was born June 7, 1998. After fighting severe illnesses at Riley Hospital for Children for the past several months, Kelcy was brought home for hospice care. On Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at 11:10 a.m., Kelcy received her angel wings while in her mother's arms to fly home to Heaven. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

Kelcy is survived by her loving parents, mother Brandi Hartleroad and companion Brett Youngblood; father Clint Almon and wife Amy; sisters, Kenzi Ann Almon and Breann Kay Youngblood; maternal grandmother, Yvette Vandalsen; maternal great-grandparents, Carrie and Terri Williams; maternal aunt, Dana Byrum and husband Mark; maternal great-uncle Sam Hartleroad and wife Michelle; paternal grandparents, Mike Almon and wife Teresa; grandmother, Debbie Binny and husband Mark; paternal stepaunt, Aubree Binney, and stepaunt, Angie Musall, as well as stepaunt, Talor Shanks. Kelcy also is survived by her great-grandmother (paternal), Betty Sirianni. Kelcy also has many great-aunts and uncles and cousins that she is survived by.

Kelsy was preceded in the journey to Heaven by her maternal aunt, Jelena Marie Hartleroad; maternal great-grandparents, (Nanny) Shirley Tarrant and (Papa) Clyde Tarrant; paternal great-grandfather, John Albert, and great-grandmother, Betty Albert.

Kelcy's life would seem too short to many, but all those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time. Her bright smile would light up a room and her laughter was contagious. Kelcy was a very giving and loving child who cared for others than herself. She loved life.

Although Kelcy was battling with illnesses, she possessed strength and perseverance. With her courage she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She enjoyed music, reading, playing games and being with her family. She also loved the color red. She enjoyed spending time with her grandmother, Yvette Vandalsen, whom she was very close to.

With Kelcy's passing, we remind others that her life is one to the celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, especially her bright smile, she will forever remain in our hearts. Through her teaching us about life and loving others unconditionally, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be the parents, family and friends of Kelcy.

Kelcy leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life. Kelcy's love extends to the wonderful nurses and doctors and will be dearly missed by all the special caregivers at Riley Hospital for Children and Guardian Angels Hospice. There is a special place in our hearts for Kelcy's best friend and boyfriend Arin Hill, because of his continual dedication, love and support. In addition, the many teachers, staff and friends with Maconaquah School Corp. will forever be remembered.

A celebration of life and visitation will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Following at 4 p.m. will be burial in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill.
