William Abrant passed away at the
family home in Kansas City, Kansas
on Wednesday, April 10, 1895 at
5:30 p.m. with typhoid malarial fever
he was 35 years, 2 month and 13
days of age.

Mr. Abrant was born at Burlington,
Iowa. His mother died when he was
thirteen days old. When he was
eleven, he moved to Marshall county
Kansas with his father and step-
mother and resided on the farm for
several years a few miles west of
Frankfort.

When he left the farm, William went
to Atchison, Kansas and worked in
the railroad machine shops. He
like working for the railroad and was
asked for a position as a locomotive
engineer. He was considered a
competent and trustworthy engineer
running out of Kansas City.

He had been in poor health for
several months, but he was not
forced to leave the road until a few
weeks before his death. His father
Mr. J.P. Abrant was summoned to
his bedside, and was with him when
the end came.

He was a member of the Brother-
hood of Locomotive Engineers of the
A.O.U.W. lodge and the K.P. lodge.

The railroad furnished a special car
to bring the body and funeral party
to Frankfort, Kansas for burial.
Funeral services were held at the
Presbyterian church with Reverend
William Boyle officiating.
