Harriett LaNell Dillard Freeman departed this life in the early hours of Wednesday, August 6, 2003.

Born October 2, 1956 in Houston, she was the only child of Robert and Lelia Dillard.

She attended Douglas Elementary Ryan Middle School, Jack Yates High School and Houston Technical School in Houston.

Harriett united with Bobby Long. To this union one son, Jamaal A. Long, was born.

On November 3, 1990, she married John Quincy Freeman. To this union, one daughter, Jondrea Wynea Freeman, was born.

Harriett dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at Greater Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. F. Allen in Houston.

A devoted member and willing worker, she served as a mission worker, member of Mother Uplift, Sunday School and choir secretary, youth department president, second vice-president of Uplift Southwest Central Association and other capacities when needed.

Harriett later moved her membership to Grace Community Church in Houston.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving, devoted mother, Lelia Dillard; husband, John Quincy Freeman; son, Jamaal A. Long; daughter, Jondrea Wynea Freeman; step-daughter, Kariza Long; step-sister, Bernadette Crockett; two grandchildren, Kiara and Johari A. Long; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, from Greater Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Houston. Interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery in Matthews.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Willie Waddell's Riverside Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers were Bobby Jones, Thomas Coleman, Ralph Duren, Eddie Long, Laplark Estelle, Robert Thomas, and Terris Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers were Cornelius Alexander, Dea. Roger Joseph, Jessie Wilhite, Lonnie Clay, Robert Long and Darryl Williams.

Sympathy is extended to the family in their loss.
