Joseph Lewi Cohn. municipal
public relations specialist and former
newspaper man. died in his
sleep at his home Sunday at 780
Madison avenue. New York City.
He was 67 years old.
Mr. Cohn was well known in
Schenectady, having visited here
many times and was a cousin of
Henry L. Cohen of Van. Curler avenue
and Theodore L. Cole of Oxford
place.

he served in World war I as a captain
and following his discharge
joined the New York City News
Association as a police reporter. In
1924 he was with the New York
Times briefly and then worked for
the old New York Evening Graphic,
first as Albany correspondent
and later as political correspondent.
He also had been sports editor
of the Richmond 'Va Times-
Dispatch.
Mr. Cohn left the newspaper
business in 1928 to do publicity for
Alfred E. Smith. Democratic candidate
for President. After that
he conducted his own public relations
office At times, he also handled
publicity for several New York
city and state agencies.
In 1939. he toured the country'
publicizing the New York World's
Fair. Later he was publicity director
for the State Democratic
committee. For the last 10 years'
he had handled public relations for
political and civic groups
