Rex was born in Farmland, Randolph County ,Indiana. one of eleven children born to Gola Carl and Blanch Ellen [Delk] Sayers. He was in the US Army from 1942 to 1946. Rex married Eileen Careins March 20,1944 . They were the parents of four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. After she died in Jan.1960 , he married Florence Brumback November 19,1964.
