Mr. DeVall, a native of Pittsburgh, was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Carlson's Raiders and a past member of the Veterans of Guadalcanal.
Survivors include his wife, Betty DeVall; a son, Howard C. DeVall Jr. of Norfolk; and a brother, Donald R. DeVall of Pittsburgh.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. J. Michael Breslin. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
