Eric Crudgington Fernihough was killed whilst attempting to regain the world motor cycle speed record that he had held the previous year. During his life he held over 80 world records and won the Swedish Grand Prix.
According to a report in Western Gazette newspaper dated Friday 6 May he was buried at Boscombe Cemetry Hants on the preceeding Wednesday (4th May 1938)
