Jonas Bishop, 93, of 105 Willow Place, Easley, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.

Born in Laurens, he was the son of the late Metts and Lillie Lee Inness Bishop. He was former owner of Utility Supply Co. and Textile Oil Co. He was the oldest living Worshipful Master of Walden Masonic Lodge No. 274. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cox Bishop; a daughter, Frances B. Henderson, of Greer; a son, Bruce J. Bishop, of Macon, Ga.; six grandchildren, Kathryn B. Tosh of Macon, Ga., Bruce J. Bishop Jr. of Macon, Ga., Karen H. Swofford of Cowpens, Gayle H. Hannon of Greer, the Rev. Bobby Henderson, Danny Suarez and David Suarez; two sisters, Agnes Clark of Easley, and Sara Alexander of Greenville; and one brother, B.T. Bishop, of Harrisonburg, Va.

He is predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy B. Jackson.

Memorials may be made to Overbrook Baptist Church, 1705 E. North St., Greenville, SC 29607.

The family will receive friends at Overbrook Baptist Church beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lance, the Rev. Bobby Henderson and Kathryn B. Tosh officiating.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Section L.

The family is at the home of the daughter, Frances Henderson, 119 Pinewood Drive, Greer. - Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, is in charge of arrangements.
