April 21, 1945

Aaron Elliott, 74, of Mechanicsville, died about 1:15 p.m. Monday at the Union Bus depot, where he was waiting with his wife for the 1:49 p.m. Mechanicsville bus. Dr. T. Frank Hersch, Linn county coroner, said he suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Elliott said that, in company with his sister, Mrs. Anna Rose, Center Point, they had just finished lunch and gone to the depot to wait for their bus. Elliott leaves two children by a previous marriage, Mrs. Frances Gordon, Blue Island, Ill., and James R. Elliott, in the armed forces stationed in the Philippines. His body was taken to the Moen funeral home, and burial will be at Mt. Auburn. Plans for services will be announced later.

Services for Aaron Elliott, Mechanicsville, former Cedar Rapids resident who died suddenly of a heart attack in the Union Bus depot Monday noon, will be held in the Moen chapel at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Dr. Marion H. Williams will officiate, and burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Auburn cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel. Surviving in addition to relatives previously mentioned are a brother, James R. Elliott, Rowley, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
