In 1974 he purchased the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball's American League. During his ownership he acted (in effect) as his own general manager, he reveled in making trades on a whim and the hiring and firing of managers. He had six managers in the six years he owned the team including four in eight days. Corbett sold the team in 1980.

Brad was born in the Bronx, New York on October 15, 1937. He attended Rhodes Preparatory School in Manhattan and graduated from Wagner College in 1960. He then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1963. Following his service in the Marines, he worked for Allied Chemical Corporation as a Vice-President before founding Universal Pipe & Plastic Incorporated, which later merged into Robintech, Inc., a Fort Worth-based manufacturer of polyvinyl chloride pipe. Under Brad's leadership as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Robintech grew to become the largest PVC pipe manufacturer in the world.
In 1974, Brad led the investment group that purchased the Texas Rangers Baseball Club. He remained an active, involved owner of the Rangers until 1980. During his tenure, the Rangers' overall winning percentage was .521. He subsequently founded an international industrial manufacturing group and built it into the largest supplier of pipe-sealing systems in the world. For decades, Brad served as an active member of the board of the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament, one of the leading fundraisers in the United States for cancer and leukemia research.
He was the recipient of many honors and awards during his lifetime including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. He served on many boards and was a tireless supporter of charitable and humanitarian causes.
His main love was creating new businesses, and in his visionary way, making them flourish. Brad possessed an innate ability to recognize, acknowledge, and champion the skills and strengths of those around him. This aspect of his character inspired and elevated everyone who came into contact with him - from the business titan to the batboy, the President to the pipe layer. A dynamic, charismatic, and generous leader, he was greatly loved by his grandchildren, children, employees, and his enormous group of friends from all over the world. In the recent words of a leader of American industry, upon presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Brad: "He is stronger than a locomotive in his beliefs and love of his country, family, and fellow man; he will leap tall buildings to overcome any obstacle in the pursuit of a vision; and he is faster than a speeding bullet to the side of a needy friend or cause."
