He was the son of the late Dora and Walter Hooker. Mr. Hooker was retired from Old Dominion University, where he worked as a painter. Educated in Norfolk schools, he was an Army veteran of World War II.
Frederick Douglas Hooker was survived by his sister, Mable M. Harden; a brother, Joseph D. Hooker; nieces, Phyllis H. Carter of Institute, W.Va., and Shelia Franklin of San Antonio, Texas; and several other nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
