First name: Frederica
Middle name: Loretta
Nickname: Freddie
Frederica Loretta Thomasson was the third daughter born in a family of five boys and two girls. She was the daughter of Jefferson Sylvanus and Rebecah (Butler) Thomasson, born October 9, 1883, at the Thomasson
homeplace in the Burnout community. She was named after two daughters of Trezevant Thomasson, her father's older brother, but was quickly called Freddie, a name she retained the rest of her life.
Freddie's sunny disposition was evident at birth. It became the most endearing part of her personality and was her trademark throughout life. As a child Freddie was somewhat of a tomboy. She loved to ride horseback with her brothers or follow them fishing. When she had chores to do, she would quickly invent short cuts to completing a dreaded but necessary task. If it could not be handed off to a sister, Freddie would plan to get the chore done as quickly as possible, so it would not interfere with her other activities.
While Freddie was probably reprimanded more than her sisters because of her tomboyish traits, it was not her nature to pout or waste time feeling sorry for herself. She was ever ready to seize an opportunity when it presented itself. Sugar, her younger sister (by one year), needed more encouragement for these daring escapades. She would be urged on by Freddie, and together they had many pleasant experiences.
When old enough for Ma Rebecah to train her in sewing and ironing techniques, Freddie learned though not as eagerly as her mother would have liked.
When Freddie grew up she fell in love with a handsome and charming young man, William Edgar Alsobrooks. They were married about 1902 and began their own family. Their first child was a girl, Mertie Loretta, who was born January 29, 1904, but only lived a week. It was a sad beginning for the young couple. However, another little girl was born in little over a year on March 22, 1905, and she was named Mira Albrena.
Edgar became ill with a high fever and died August 23, 1905. Freddie was married a second time on November 3, 1909, to James Richard Frazier, a widower with six children.
Freddie lived to see most of her children married with families of their own. She survived her husband, Jimmy. Freddie welcomed forty-five grandchildren and many greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren to her home before her death.
