Margaret B. LaDou, 82; was artist, community volunteer
Margaret Bernice LaDou, 82, resident of San Diego for the past 49 years, portrait artist and community volunteer, died Thursday in Kaiser Hospital, El Cajon.
The Rosary and Requiem Mass will be at 10 a.m. today, in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., immediately preceding the service. Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. LaDou was born Dec. 9, 1908, in Waseca, Minn. She and her husband, Harold J. LaDou, were married in 1932.
They settled in Point Loma in 1942 and lived there for many years before moving to Mission Hills.
Mrs. LaDou was a portrait artist who showed her work in Balboa Park. She was a community volunteer and worked in many civic and community organizations.
She was active in Toastmistress International and in the Children's Home Society.
Her volunteer service included working in the American Red Cross motor corps and as a Pink Lady at Mercy Hospital.
She was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Harold J. LaDou; two sons and a daughter; a sister; and six granddaughters.
