Claire Marie Jasous Aboud, born February 16, 1924, was called to Heaven on Thursday November 8, 2012. Claire was a longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, after spending her childhood and young adult life in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to El Paso after meeting and marrying her lifelong love, Abdou. They were married for 63 years when Abdou passed away in 2011. Claire gave birth to 4 wonderful children; Dr. Dwayne Aboud (Michelle), Russell Aboud, Marcy Aboud, Gary Aboud (Cindi). Claire was preceded in death by her precious daughter Marcy, her grandson Braden Aboud and her loving and caring husband Abdou. Her grandchildren; Morgan Mazza (Tom), Nicole Vaughn (Edward), Casey Aboud, Lacey Aboud, Avery Aboud, Haley Aboud, Russell Aboud, Jr., and Brian Diaz, will have many years to reflect on those special moments spent with Grandma during their young lifetime. Claire's family would like to thank the continued efforts and love of her caregivers, Lulu, Chela, Maria and Carmen. They showed so much compassion and care that helped sustain Claire's quality of life beyond expectation. A very special thank you to Cima Hospice, and the outstanding medical care provided by Maggie, our "in house" RN, and Claire's son, Dr. Dwayne Aboud for his tireless and unselfish love and devotion to his mother during this most difficult time of her life. Claire was the consummate mother. Her devotion to her family and grandchildren set the standard of parenting. Her dedication to her husband for 63 years was an example of commitment and love, with a sense of gratitude for all good things Abdou did for her and the children. Claire was an excellent "scratch" cook and baker, who was infamous for her chocolate cookies and affinity of all things chocolate. She was an avid tennis player and had been active for many years with St. Clements Church and its local outreach programs. She was a homemaker extraordinaire, with an occasional flair for helping her daughter Marcy in the clothing and décor business. Claire's wit and friendly sarcasm will be sorely missed. She had a quiet reserved personality that captured the essence of her calm loving disposition. She will live in eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, awaiting those of us left behind. May God embrace her at the gates of Heaven for her job well done here on Earth. Services with be held at Martin Funeral Home West on Saturday November 10, 2012 at 10:00am, immediately followed by burial services at Memory Gardens of The Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation, 5024 Doniphan, #2, El Paso, TX 79932 or Cima Hospice of El Paso, 6090 Surety Dr., Ste. 102, El Paso, TX 79905.
